Hey, just hear me out.

There is no question in my mind that where you hang your real estate license matters. Careers both new and old die for this reason. Like anyone who has a pulse in this industry, I receive recruitment calls from other brokerages often. Most of these calls center around promises of an enticing commission split (with no mention of their fees) and “technology.” And that last part is how I know they have no idea what we’re doing over here. So, let’s put that to bed first.

The Technology

Coming from a past life in which I oversaw business intelligence and geospatial analysis departments in the global logistics field, I am familiar with workplace technology and the importance of a company’s attitude about it. This was one of the reasons I carefully selected Crossroads over the other brokerages ( big ones too) I personally interviewed.

We have a dedicated Chief Technology Officer and are always seeking the newest solutions for equipping agents of any level with incredible tools that help us help people. What about the people, though? Never comes up in any recruitment pitch I’ve ever heard.

 

This is “people business,” right? And if that’s true, then surely it matters both who you’re working for and who you’re working around. I was told early on by our President, Mark Kotzas, that the agents at Crossroads Realty, at all levels, would drop everything to help another agent. This ran contrary to stories I’d heard about other real estate offices, but the truth is, I was only 2 days in and had already seen this promise fulfilled. I felt immediately welcomed and immediately motivated. The agents at Crossroads seemed to take pride introducing themselves and offering genuine, helpful advice. It’s the kind of thing you want to participate in and pay forward at the soonest opportunity.

More than once I’ve heard mention of “The Crossroads Spirit.” I think you’d have to experience it firsthand to really know what I’m talking about (we have so many events throughout the year that it won’t be long before you find out). The people here support each other. They really bring you into the fold and they actively want you to be a great agent. It’s not easy to pull off a workplace that has all the warmth of a small local business, when, as a dominant force in residential and commercial real estate since 1966 with 10 locations throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties and armed to the teeth with the best resources available, we are anything but. We pull it off.

 

The Reputation

As I’ve mentioned, Crossroads has been at it since 1966, and there’s a reason for that. On more than one occasion, I’ve had a client ask me to clarify which brokerage I work with and watched a relief come over them when I say I’m with Crossroads. “Oh, you’re with Crossroads? Then you’re good.” How does that happen? Crossroads agents are all over family histories around here.
